Drip Coffee Maker: Use 1 rounded Tbsp per 2 cups of water.

• Filter Cone: Use 1 rounded Tbsp per 10 oz water.

• French Press: Add 1-2 Tbsp to ‘3-cup’, 3-4 Tbsp to ‘8-cup’ pots. Steep for 3 minutes.

• Espresso Machine: Use the double porta-filter and 102 rounded Tbsp. Brew according to machine instructions.

 Iced Teeccino: Chill brewed Teeccino. Or make a strong brew using 2 Tbsp per 2 cups water and pour the hot brew over ice.

• Adjust brewing strength and drink black or add creamer, milk, non-dairy milk and/or sweetener according to personal preference.


Ingredients: Roasted organic carob, organic barley, organic chicory, organic ramón seeds, natural coffee flavor.

It wasn’t until I discovered ramón seeds from Central American rainforests that the dream of a dark roasted, unsweetened herbal coffee with enough body to carry coffee-like depth and intensity came into focus. The Maya drank a brewed beverage of roasted ramón seeds for all kinds of health reasons including their nutrient-density that made it a favorite drink of pregnant Mayan ladies. Please recall that this was prior to the Spaniards bringing the coffee tree across the Atlantic. You could call the Maya’s brew of roasted ramón seeds, the New World’s first coffee alternative!

In a choice between Teeccino’s regular flavors, Java, French Roast, and Dandelion Dark Roast, those coffee drinkers who like pure coffee flavor prefer dark roasted French Roast. Those who like a medium roast with just a bit of sweetness prefer Java. For those who are gluten sensitive or want to detox, Dandelion Dark Roast has a slightly more bitter note from dandelion root’s stimulating bitters.     Didn’t like the taste at all

    I really wanted to like the French Roast Teeccino product. I wanted an alternative to coffee — the acid was causing my GERD to flare up. I was really disappointed by the taste of the Teeccino. I didn’t like it at all. I tried it on three days separated by a couple of weeks. It didn’t matter. I just didn’t the taste. It doesn’t taste like coffee at all.

    I am so disappointed in this. I bought this thinking it was going to be a HEALTHY herbal coffee replacement and when it arrived I was so disappointed to see that there were “natural coffee flavors” as one of the ingredients! “natural flavors” no matter what your rationale are NOT natural, they are toxic, they are not healthy, and they are NOT whole foods. I feel like I was scammed into thinking this company actually cares about health. Why do you need to add natural flavors? shouldn’t the herbs be enough??? shameful

      Hello Daisy,

      There is so much misinformation about natural flavors circulating in the health world that our founder Caroline MacDougall wrote a whole blog on natural flavors. I can assure you that we don’t use anything in our products that wasn’t created first by a plant. The “Natural Coffee Flavor” is made from the highest quality, pure natural flavors that are made from flavoring constituents that are extracted from natural ingredients like fruits, spices, herbs and even coffee. For instance, vanilla extract is made from infusing vanilla beans into alcohol and water. Peppermint comes from both the leaf and the essential oil. Citrus flavor is produced with a hint of orange oil. Chocolate flavors are created from cocoa powder.

      It is hardest for people to understand how we can use coffee flavor without having any coffee in Teeccino. The components of coffee flavor can be extracted from a number of natural ingredients that include coffee, chicory and even, believe it not, garlic! It’s hard to imagine that coffee and garlic share the same flavor component, but they do. The expertise of flavor chemists allows them to derive flavors by isolating them from other compounds that don’t contribute to flavor. Thus it is possible to produce coffee flavor without caffeine. Watch out though for coffee-flavored ice cream, yogurt, etc. because these foods usually contain a coffee concentrate or even ground coffee beans that do have caffeine.
