Teeccino Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

The Travel'n Chefs came up with this delicious Teeccino barbecue sauce to enhance your grilling moments. Marinate fresh grilled fish and meat in it or savor it over fresh-off-the-grill mushrooms, sliced eggplant and zucchini. Watch your guests wonder whatever could be in this barbecue sauce that makes it so good!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (or vegan shortening)
  • 1/2 medium red onion diced small
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 cup brewed [Java Chicory Herbal Coffee] (or a certified gluten-free Teeccino blend such as Dandelion Vanilla Nut or Dandelion Dark Roast)
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 6 plum tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp ancho chili powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce (or vegan worcestershire)

Instructions

Prep Time: 10 minutes , Cook Time: 35 Minutes , Calories per serving:45

  1. Mix bourbon with brewed Teeccino, set aside.
  2. In a large sauce pot, melt the butter over medium heat and saute the onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add Teeccino/bourbon mix, and stir over heat while reducing the mixture by half.
  4. Add tomatoes and simmer 15 minutes.
  5. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes more.
  6. Puree the mixture in a food processor and pour into a glass jar.
  7. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
  8. Will keep for 1 week in a refrigerator.
