TeeChia's Ingredients

More About TeeChia:

TeeChia is powered by 6 organic super seeds:

Organic Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are milled for quick release of their soluble fiber and their ALA omega-3 fatty acids. Milling chia seeds cracks their seed coating so their nutrients will be fully released. Unlike whole chia seeds, the milled seeds won’t get stuck in your teeth and you’ll still get the full benefit from their nutrients. Whole chia seeds often go through your digestive tract with their nutrients still encased within the seed’s hard shell.

Chia’s unique soluble fiber forms a gel when wet that is soothing to the digestive tract. It promotes regularity and creates easy bowel movements. Chia seeds are very high in protein, higher than grains and comparable to walnuts and almonds. Chia seeds contain the flavonoids quercetin, myricetin, and kaempferol plus chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid, all antioxidants that have been studied for their beneficial effects in humans.

Organic Flax Seeds

Flax seeds are milled for quick release of their soluble fiber and their nutrients. The shell of flax seeds is so hard that their nutrients can’t be absorbed without milling. Rumors that flax seeds go rancid quickly after milling aren’t substantiated by studies showing that the presence of antioxidants keeps the nutrients in flax seeds stable at room temperature when protected from light and air.

After chia, flax seeds are the second richest plant source of ALA omega-3 fatty acids and has a similar gel-like fiber when wet. Flax seeds combined with chia seeds bring 1200mg of ALA omega-3 fatty acids to a serving of TeeChia. Flaxseeds are also a rich source of lignans. They contain the highest concentration of secoisolariciresinol diglucoside, SDG. SDG is a phytonutrient, antioxidant and lignan precursor. Lignans are beneficial for intestinal health and help promote regularity.

Flax seeds are grown organically in the US Midwest.

Organic Quinoa Seeds

Quinoa seeds are steamed and flaked and prepared like rolled oats. They have a color that’s similar to rolled oats, but they are lighter and more delicate due to quinoa’s smaller seed size. Quinoa is not a grain as it isn’t a member of the grass (Poaceae) family, to which all grains belong. It is a seed and has been called a pseudo-grain because it can replace grains in a meal.

Quinoa seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids so quinoa delivers a complete protein. It adds soluble fiber to TeeChia’s content. Known as the ‘mother of grains”, the Inca rulers planted it ceremoniously each year.

Quinoa seeds are grown organically in the Altiplano highlands of Bolivia and Peru.

Organic Amaranth Seeds

Amaranth seeds are steamed and flaked like quinoa flakes but are even smaller and very thin due to the amaranth seed being so small to begin with.

Like quinoa, Amaranth is a seed, not a grain, though it is eaten like a grain. The Aztecs revered amaranth and it was their staple food crop until the Spanish destroyed their fields and forbade it. Amaranth also provides a complete protein with about 30% of its calories coming from protein. It is an excellent source of manganese, phosphorus, iron and copper as well as other minerals and vitamins.

Amaranth is grown organically in Bolivia.

Organic Ramón Seeds

Ramón seeds are very hard because they don’t contain any fat so they must be ground in order to be eaten. Both roasted and raw ramón seeds are used in TeeChia.

Ramón seeds were a traditional food of the Maya who called the tree, the ‘corn’ tree, because they could mix ramón flour with their corn flour. The seeds are high in the amino acid, tryptophan, along with very high fiber and potassium. They also have antioxidants on par with walnuts, the nut with the highest antioxidant activity.

Ramón seeds are wild harvested in the Maya Biosphere Reserve in Guatemala. Learn more about ramón seeds >>

Organic Pumpkin Seeds

Whole, raw pumpkin seeds add a nice crunchiness to TeeChia. Popularly known as pepitas in Mexico, these seeds are shelled for pleasurable eating. They are an excellent source of magnesium, iron, zinc and antioxidants like carotenoids and vitamin E. They contribute to the levels of ALA omega-3 fatty acids and protein in TeeChia.

Organically grown in Mexico.

TeeChia contains heart-healthy oats:

Certified Gluten-Free Rolled Oats

Oats don’t contain gluten, but they are typically contaminated with gluten by being processed in facilities that also process wheat and barley. TeeChia’s rolled oat flakes are grown in Canada by a grower that exclusively grows and processes gluten-free oats. The whole oats are lightly steamed and then rolled for easy digestion.

Oats are actually a nutrient-dense super food, rich in vitamins and minerals. They also contain a soluble fiber called beta-glucan which is heart healthy and prebiotic as it is fermented in the gut by the microflora to produce short-chain fatty acids. Beta-glucan absorbs water and contributes to the sense of fullness after eating rolled oats. The soluble fiber in oats has been shown to slow the absorption of carbohydrates which lowers blood sugar and increases satiety so that you feel full longer. Oats also contain a unique polyphenol antioxidant called avenanthramides which may contribute to oat’s beneficial effects on heart health.

Depending on the flavor, TeeChia also contains these nuts & dried fruits:

Almonds, roasted & chopped. Only found in TeeChia’s Cranberry Apple. Nut sensitive people can eat TeeChia’s Blueberry Date, which is free of tree nuts. Almonds stay fresh longer than all other nuts, unlike walnuts and pecans, which go rancid rapidly after shelling. TeeChia’s almonds are grown and roasted without any oil or salt in California.

Dates, Deglet Noor, diced & ground. Low moisture Deglet Noor dates make a perfect sweetener for TeeChia because their sugars are bound in fiber that slows their release into the blood stream. Dates are harvested from palm trees that grow in California’s desert.

Zante Currants, organic, dried. Currants are small, sweet, seedless grapes that originally came from Greece and are now grown organically in California. Ours are coated with sunflower oil to keep them moist.

Blueberries, dried, apple juice infused. Dried blueberries are moister and more flavorful when infused with apple juice concentrate. They are less sweet, have lower carbs, and have a stronger blueberry flavor than berries that have been infused with sugar.

Cranberries, organic, dried, apple juice infused. Dried cranberries are infused with apple juice concentrate to keep them moist and add a bit of sweetness to offset the natural tartness of cranberries. Our cranberries are organically grown in either the US or Canada.

Freeze-dried cranberry & blueberry powders.  Freeze drying is one of the best ways to preserve the full nutritional value and flavor complexity of a fruit. These freeze-dried powders boost the flavor and nutrient profile of TeeChia!

TeeChia is enchanced with plant-derived natural flavors:
